Interview with the great Hair Stylist Topaz

SPRING HAIR TRENDS:

Hi Topaz, thanks for being here with us today and answering our questions regarding Spring Hair Trends 2010.

TOPAZ:

Thanks, it's great to be here. Spring is an exciting time for changes. Changing your energy, lightening it up,

spicing it up.

SPRING HAIR TRENDS:

So how exactly does one go about doing this with her or his hair?

TOPAZ:
The first thing to consider is the client's skin tone and eye color. Because whatever you do with hair color needs to be complimentary to the tone of the skin and eyes. And in this instance we are lightening up the hair color. Brunettes for example, we leave the main color as is and create magic sections – meaning they come out of nowhere.

SPRING HAIR TRENDS:
Does this work for Blondes also? And if so, how?

TOPAZ:
The blondes can always go more blonde, but you must look at the shape of the face and things like different tonalities. Multiple blonde tones or tritones. Examples of tones include honey, golden, ice, champaign.

SPRING HAIR TRENDS:

Let's talk about your Spring Hair Trends 2010 transformational models, your before and after shots. The first girl goes from having long dark hair to short. What were your hair trends concepts with her?

TOPAZ:

What I did for her hair color was the beach ball idea of three tones, from darker to lighter. Dark creates texture in a bob. And there is a little intential disconnection in the classic bob I created for her. The reason I used the juxtoposition of a slightlly longer piece was because the client is young and wanted a look that was unique but still classic. Additionally she has an extraverted personality and enjoys attention.

SPRING HAIR TRENDS:
What about the man? I understand he had a little color as well?

TOPAZ:
Yes. He was more conservative but he still wanted a little bit of something unusual. So I did a razor haircut with a lot of texture and on both sides of the cut I added magic sections for a blue fire effect. It's very subtle but effective in achieving both a trendy and classic look.

SPRING HAIR TRENDS:

And the final girl?

TOPAZ:
She has a very sweet face so I felt that she needed a little bit more romantic hair style. And the hair color I selected for her was a “honey” which I did using a special zig zag technique. The curling iron I used to give her the romantic wave with texture was special made so that the shape is not uniform. So you get a more variation in the curls.
